A Round Up of Resources for Women

Over the course of this year, many of us have felt disconnected, lonely, unsure, and out of touch – both spiritually and relationally. It’s been a challenging year for everyone, and we miss the strong community that FBC Women’s Ministry has!

Below you will find a list of resources to help carry you into the fall and winter ahead, as we look to God, our hope and our constant companion. Though 2020 may have made us weary, God will continue to be our refuge. Thank you, Lord.

Books

Women of the Word: How to Study the Bible With Both Our Minds and Our Hearts by Jen Wilkin … “We all know it’s important to study God’s word. But sometimes it’s hard to know where to start. What’s more, a lack of time, emotionally driven approaches, and past frustrations can erode our resolve to keep growing in our knowledge of Scripture. How can we, as Christian women, keep our focus and sustain our passion when reading the Bible? Women of the Word has helped countless women with a clear and concise plan they can use every time they open their Bible. This book will equip you to engage God’s word in a way that trains your mind and transforms your heart.” (If you attended our IF conference in 2019, you received a copy! Be The Bridge: Understanding God’s Heart for Racial Reconciliation by Latasha Morrison …  In an era where we seem to be increasingly divided along racial lines, many are hesitant to step into the gap, fearful of saying or doing the wrong thing. At times the silence, particularly within the church, seems deafening. But change begins with an honest conversation among a group of Christians willing to give a voice to unspoken hurts, hidden fears, and mounting tensions. These ongoing dialogues have formed the foundation of a global movement called Be the Bridge—a nonprofit organization whose goal is to equip the church to have a distinctive and transformative response to racism and racial division. In this perspective-shifting book, founder Latasha Morrison shows how you can participate in this incredible work and replicate it in your own community. With conviction and grace, she examines the historical complexities of racism. She expertly applies biblical principles, such as lamentation, confession, and forgiveness, to lay the framework for restoration.”
